The mission of the Especially for You® Race Against Breast Cancer is to raise funds for women unable to afford breast-cancer screening, and to educate women on the importance of early detection.
Breast cancer is most treatable and curable when detected in its earliest stages. Even so, breast cancer claims an estimated 40,870 lives each year. This number can be reduced when women practice early detection through breast self-examination, clinical breast exam and mammography.
As of June 2007, the Especially for You® Race Against Breast Cancer has raised more than $1,000,000 in funds and has helped 4,308 women a total of 7,473 times.
The expenses of the Especially for You race are underwritten by corporate sponsors and contributors.
